Program Office/Description: 

The Office of Professional Discipline (OPD) investigates allegations of professional misconduct across more than 55 licensed professions under the ·¬ÇÑÊÓÆµapp State Education Law. This includes matters involving unlicensed or criminal practice, as well as moral character reviews for individuals seeking licensure. In addition, OPD oversees pharmacy-related matters as part of its jurisdiction—conducting mandatory inspections for new pharmacies and performing random inspections thereafter to ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

The Assignment (Description of Job): 

Interns will support OPD investigations by assisting with document review, evidence analysis, and the drafting of investigative reports. They will conduct computer based research, participate in pharmacy visits alongside investigators, and observe interviews with complainants and subjects of investigations. Interns will also be introduced to investigative procedures, field equipment, and the standards required for maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity throughout the investigative process.

Professional Development Plan : 

Interns will receive structured professional development through hands-on training in investigative report writing, evidence review, documentation standards, and confidentiality requirements. Additional training will expose interns to pharmacy inspection procedures and investigative fieldwork. These experiences are designed to build foundational skills for future careers in criminal justice, regulatory enforcement, government operations, and public service.

Desired Skills, Abilities, & Educational Background: 

Ideal candidates are students pursuing degrees in criminal justice or related fields. Applicants should have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, clear written communication abilities, and an interest in investigative or regulatory work. The ability to manage sensitive information responsibly and work in both independent and collaborative environments is essential.

Schedule/Hours: 

Interns will be expected to work 15 hours each week. Specific schedules will be made in conjunction with the supervisor.

Paid Internship Hourly Rates: 

This is an unpaid position. We are happy to work with student to help them earn academic credit for their internship with our Department.
